Product Description Percy is a half-blood - the son of a Greek God. He spends his time fighting with swords, battling monsters with friends and generally trying to stay alive. Now Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks Percy has stolen his lightning bolt - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea. Can Percy find the lightning bolt before a fully-fledged war of the Gods erupts?

Percy Jackson and the peaceful driving holiday September 2, 2010 Ms. A. Pugh (West Yorkshire) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I chose this audio book to listen to while my daughter and I drove through France with her children (boy aged 6, girl aged 10). We all found it very entertaining and it held our attention on long drives - no mean feat for an age range of 6 to 60+. Perhaps its appeal lay in the story's modern setting, while introducing many of the characters of Greek mythology. That - and the excellent reader, Walter Lewis.
The children are now keen to see the film and read some of the other Percy Jackson stories.
Move over Harry Potter there's a new hero in town! September 1, 2010 Miss_B Amazing. Loved the whole greek mythology thing too. Bought the complete series after reading this book. Can't wait to read them.
Fun read. August 24, 2010 sapitt (London, England) This is different from the film in many ways but was a fun read on holiday for my 9 year old who liked the Harry Potter books very much and had just finished the last book in that series and was looking for a new series to enjoy. There is action in Percy Jackson and the book is very American in its vernacular and references but sometimes the pace of the book felt a bit slow and the plot a bit formulaic when I read out bits at bed time. If you are looking for an easy, not too deep book that will pass the time of day pleasantly this is for you. If you are looking for something with more complexity or depth (like Harry Potter/ Roman Mysteries) then this will probably be a bit simplistic. My son reckoned that he would like to read another in the series but hasn't pressed me and we have been reading the Nurse Mathilda/ Nanny Mcphee books instead!!
audio cd lightening thief August 11, 2010 bought as a present for my 9 year old son. he enjoys listening to it. delivery was quick with the item arriving in pristine new condition.
great book! August 11, 2010 manz92 (london, england) good book, with a story that hooks, only thing you i thought was abit annoying was that you sometimes get the feeling the storys being rushed, only at certain points where i would have prefered more info....anyway its not a big deal. The plot is very clever with a good twist and its worth while getting to know some greek mythology becouse it makes it more interesting if not better to understand. if you enjoyed harry potter you would definintly enjoy this!
