Product Description Dazed and disorientated, I looked up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm - and into the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires. For Bella Swan, there is one thing more precious than life itself: Edward Cullen. It's just as well she feels that way, for loving him will be a deadly game... Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of an evil vampire. But now, as their taboo relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, their true troubles are only just beginning... The second tale of blood, passion and love that defies all boundaries in Stephenie Meyer's hypnotic 'Twilight' saga.

Excellent no matter what your age March 16, 2010 N. Bowyer (UK) I do not normally write reviews but the Twilight series has had such an impact on me, I felt it unfair not to make some sort of statement. I am 32 with two small children and very happily married. Still. These books brought about feelings in me I had tried to dodge for years and I realise now after a few readings, that this is the power of the series, it draws you in churns you about and then spits you back out again with your feelings and views all jumbled like you've just done a spin in the washing machine.
I started with New Moon hence writing my review under this book. It all came about by chance, I had recorded twilight on Sky+ and watched it one night when my husband was busy and I got control of the remote. It was captivating, rather hastily I rushed out to Tesco the next morning to buy the book New Moon, I had no idea what to expect I had read no reviews I was purely intrigued. After reading all day much to my toddler's irritation I had pretty much nailed the book in one sitting. It had me and I could not get my head clear of it, I did not sleep for the best part of a week as everytime I shut my eyes it turned over and over in my head. It made me remember being 18, first love, choices that you make at that age but do not realise the impact of and that feeling of being invincible which only a teenager on the cusp of adulthood can have. Meyer has grasped it all so clearly and I feel that is where her skill is at it's strongest. No she is not the most constant of authors and her prose is at times dragging, volatile and also repetitive. But who cares, she describes emotions and feelings that I had long forgotten I ever had, she evokes the heartbreak of young love vividly. She makes every reader connect with some part of story.
Out of all the books New Moon is possibly my least favourite, but then I find all the books mildly irritating in different places but still an unfathomable compulsion to read them. For me Edward is possibly the most enjoyable character, but that may only because I enjoy his maturity more. I could quite happily shake Bella most the time, and Jacobs youthful petulance grates on my nerves, but I think that's the point. Breaking Dawn was a great ending, with everything tied up in a satisfactory manner I very much enjoyed the insight into the Vampire's abilities which we were unable to learn before. For those that criticised the lack of a blood bath at the end, well hello?? do you really want the characters you know and love to die?? of course not, grow up! The whole series of books is about a young girls development into a young woman and her power to become the woman she is supposed to be and understand the strength and ability that has always been inside her.
I love these books even with their flaws, and I recommend anyone at any age to try and read them. I am even working on getting my husband to read them, ha ha it would probably do him some good to read things from a girls perspective!
