This toothbrush really is excellent. I have had a Braun toothbrush for many years and just decided that it was time to have a new one. After reading through information on all the various models I chose this as the feedback from others was so positive and it was all justified. Braun have managed to improve what was already a good toothbrush into an excellent cleaning machine. The toothbrush charges up to a very effecient speed which it retains even when someone else has just been using it. Your teeth feel that clean as though you have just been to the dentst.[but no pain] You can actually feel it cleaning between your teeth. It is a delight to use and the separate display unit which has both a clock and timer is a big bomus. Having a clock in the bathroom is a real asset when you have limited time in the ususal morning rush and seeing the timer actually means I clean my teeth for the full 2 mins. Even my teenage son is now cleaning his teeth for the suggested time and has commented on how good it is and how you can feel your teeth are clean. Excellent - I just wish there had been a Braun like this when I was younger and I am sure my teeth would be perfect. fantastic toothbrush ... so far (about 2/12) I have not experienced the slightest problem, it does what it says on the tin - squeeky clean teeth and a lovely feeling afterwards.
Not sure if all the gimicks (5 different programs for different types of brushing) are actually necassary but I have used the extra minute program when I have time and the normal 2 minute one when in a rush.
The little screen on the wall next to the mirror is actually a clock for the bathroom and hence useful and so is the red warning light when you apply too much pressure.
Slightly costly machine but if you like clean teeth and gadets it's worth it.

I bought two of these brushes for myself and my husband. I had used a Braun in the past that had lasted a fabulous 6 years before it's battery died. I then bought a Phillips Sonicare which broke within two years -(The on/off button broke ). So I went back to Braun and did a quick test on the Braun site to see which toothbrush best suited me. This was the one and I'm so happy I bought it for myself and one for hubby dearest. My teeth are less stained and brighter. The dentist thinks so too and even asked me which electric toothbrush I use.
We both agree that neither of us previously brushed for as long as the smartguide reccommends. The fact that the smartguide focuses you onto a particular quadrant to brush and for how long helps maintain an even brushing technique. And if you happen to be brushing too hard the smartguide brings up a warning triangle which is helpul for those of us taking out our frustrations on our teeth.

I got this for my birthday to replace my philips sonicare (which was still working fine) as my mother and sister both said this was the best toothbrush they had ever used. I never thought my teeth could feel this clean.... my teeth are so much whiter too - i've had comments from my close friends who thought i'd had them whitened! It's a little different to the sonicare in size so took a little while to get used to but it's fine now. The battery life is pretty good. It lasts about 10 days with 2 x 2- 3min per day ( i tend to use the polish setting after the 2 mins are up)
It's worth noting that once it starts flashing to charge it up - do it right away - my sonicare i'd get 2 -3 more goes out of it but this one stopped halfway through my brushing!
It comes with a plastic carry case too so you can take it away on holidays etc.
I'm very very happy with it.
